Description
BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from the less important consumers before it is completely discharged (which would damage it) or before it no longer has enough energy to start the engine.
12/24 V automatic detection of the voltage range
The BatteryProtect automatically detects the system voltage.
Simple programming
The BatteryProtect can be set so that it switches on or off at several different voltages.
The seven-segment display then indicates which setting has been selected.
A special setting for lithium-ion batteries
In this mode, the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS.
Note: The BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge breaker between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See connection diagram in the manual.
Extremely low power consumption
This is important in the case of lithium-ion batteries, especially after switching off due to a low voltage level.
Please also refer to our data sheet on lithium-ion batteries and the VE.Bus BMS manual for more information.
Overvoltage protection
To prevent sensitive loads from being damaged by overvoltage, the load is always switched off when the DC voltage exceeds the value of 16 V or 32 V.
Explosion protection
No relays but MOSFET switches and therefore no sparking.
Output for delayed alarm
The alarm output is activated if the battery voltage falls below the preset value for switching off for more than 12 seconds. Switching on the motor therefore does not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit protected open collector output connected to the negative (minus) rail. Max. Current 50 mA. The alarm output is normally used to activate an acoustic signal, an LED or a relay.
Load disconnection and reconnection delay
The load is switched off 90 seconds after the alarm is activated. If the battery voltage rises again to the threshold value for reconnection within this period (after the engine has been started, for example), the load is not switched off.
The load is reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage has exceeded the specified voltage value for reconnection.
